Another Recall - sticking pedals

Yamaha just recalled 20,000 pianos due to a problem with the pedal sticking, causing pianists to play faster than they normally would and resulting in a dangerous number of accidentals. The sticky pedal also makes it harder for pianists to come to a full stop at the end of a piece, making it extremely risky for audiences in the first three rows.

Thanks for this, Gail!

Janet interviews Cheryl

J- Describe your latest project.
C- A follow on novel to Shiva’s Arms, and another book of poems with your drawings.
J- Describe the best dinner you ever had.
C- The chocolate bombe you made me for my birthday that time.
J- That was cake, not dinner. What about the filet mignon and potatoes roasted with garlic, nutmeg and lemon before that?
C- Good, too.
J -Recommend a book that you didn’t write.
C- Flytrap, by Janet Snell.
J -You’re impossible. What fictional character would you like to date?
C- Your brother-in-law won’t let me date.
J- Describe your perfect day.
C- As Elizabeth Hardwick famously said, “Waking up, the first and the last privilege, waking up once more.”
J- Why do you write what you write?
C- To make sense of my world. To paraphrase Faulkner, “I never know what I think about something until I’ve written on it.”
J -What’s your favorite reaction from a reader?
C- When I bring them to tears, like that newcaster.
J- Are writers better liars than other people?
C -Yes. Other people add too many examples, and they’re always the wrong ones.
J- What’s your favorite holiday?
C- The one with the costumes and the candy. Halloween!
J -What’s your favorite family story?
C- When you finally started speaking, in full sentences, when you first laid eyes on our beagle.
J - Name a non-writing artist who inspires you.
C- That would be you, dear.
